Trails
William Chamberlin Equestrian Center is nestled in the heart of the Section 16 Trail system. Directly across Abbott Road is the Campbell Creek trail system, Hilltop trail system, and Chugach State Park trail system. Trails also connect to Diamond H Horse Ranch and many other private horse facilities. Please respect trail markers and ride on multi-use or trails that allow horses. Manure must be kicked off the trails no matter what trail you are on.
Trails were originally put in before the equestrian center starting in the 1970's. As the city grows around WCCEC, the Anchorage Horse Council maintains the trails in Section 16 for all users to enjoy. Starting in 2015 multiple trail grants were used to update many of the trails with gravel so that they can be used year-round without closures for mud and erosion. Some trails do not have gravel yet. Until these trails have gravel and are updated they may close periodically during wet seasons to preserve them from erosion. You can check out our Facebook page for weekly updates or subscribe to our mailing list on our contacts page.
